A torch dubbed “devolution torch” to celebrate the successes of devolution in the past four years arrived in Kisumu on Thursday.
Council of Governors chairman Governor Peter Munya handed over the torch to Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma at the Kisumu airport.
Kisumu County Government Minister for industrialization Energy and Enterprise Development Johnson Awuor said the torch will be taken around in all the seven sub counties.
Awuor said the devolution torch will give residents a chance to assess, celebrate, appreciate and take stock of the achievements for the last four years.
“We will move in all the sub counties and have a chance to speak with the people. Governor Ranguma will tell the people what he has done and what he has in store for them,” he said.
Speaking to the press in Kisumu, Awuor said the county of Kisumu has made several strides in various sectors like health, roads, education among others.
He said the torch will enable the county to showcase individual projects that have been carried out in the sub counties and that are changing lives of the residents.
The Devolution torch will be then handed over to Vihiga County after the Kisumu celebrations.
