Nakuru Deputy Governor Joseph Ruto has called on political parties to adhere to the law and avoid leadership wrangles within them ahead of the 2017 General Election.
He said political parties have a big role to ensure there is peace and democracy even as the country prepares for the forthcoming elections.
"My appeal to the political parties is to exercise democracy and avoid the leadership wrangles as we head to the general election next year," he said.
Ruto was speaking on Tuesday after attending a requiem mass for the late Grace Nyambura Njeru, mother to Zack Njeru, sub-county administrator Nakuru East at the Nakuru ACK Cathedral.
All the speakers at the mass eulogised Grace as a hardworking, dedicated, disciplinarian and very loving woman.
The DG said she is an example to be emulated by the current and future generations in order to safeguard families, as family is the basic unit of a people.
He was accompanied by Nakuru CeCs for Public Service Management, ICT and E-government, Environment and Lands Prof.Catherine Kitetu, Stephen Maritim, Richard Rop and Rachel Maina respectively.
A number of county officials and MCAs led by the Biashara Ward MCA Stephen Kuria also attended the service.
The deceased is survived by seven children, 28 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
