Kisii Professor Emmy Agok has raised concern and is worried about the trend at which buildings are being brought down.

Speaking of Nyamache Girls High School fire incident, she said it is time parents, teachers and stakeholders sit down and discuss the problems the students have in depth.

She said teachers have failed in creating a safe good communication strategy with the students who pile up pressure due to stress and may unresolved issues.

She says teachers and parents to have a part to blame.

"Teachers have a tendency of creating a non-conducive environment that leads to mistrust and a poor relation between the teacher and students," she said.

She adds that any small issue in the school should be given adequate attention without considering its magnanimity.

"We would riot while in school for simply little or  too much salt in the food," she said

“We tend to incriminate a student for making certain demands where some even go punished. There is no problem when students call for a football match but the way we handle them is the problem,” she added.

“Sit down with your students. Establish a good rapport and ask what they would wish to have and what is possible and not and the reason together from that point,” she said,

She said 90% of the destruction in schools are as a result student’s pressure piling up from unsolved issues which could involve the administrations or specific teachers.

“We should create a conducive environment for both the student and teacher to thrive well through effective dialogue,” she said.
