I met this Martin through a friend the other day and there was chemistry between us.The way he looked at me suggested he liked me a little more...I couldn't hide what I fell for him too, it was love at first sight.
A week later we went out for coffee at Java, a true gentleman he was. We talked for hours about our experiences and dreams, ambitions and plans, what an experience! After coffee he offered to drop me home, I got to his Subaru and off we drove. We got to my place and I welcomed him in, why wouldn't I?
The guy was very customized, with very easy moves, no rush, slow but very sure. Because it was late he just gave me a hug and left. We planned to meet over the weekend, go out raving and have fun. I couldn't wait....
When the weekend got here, Martin was very punctual, he came over and picked me up at around 11.00am, we went to TRM and had breakfast and later drove to Ole Polos. It was a very exciting day.
He told me he was falling for me and he was looking for a woman to settle with, I wasn't into such commitments yet but thought we could kick it off and see how things roll.
Things were okay between us, hardly did we ever fight or quarrel. This guy had a way of making things right all the time. I loved this man, that I knew for sure.
Three months into the relationships, I had moved in with him and were making arrangments to go to my parents and make it official. I had already met my in-laws who were so excited that he finally found a woman.
This particular morning am home on leave, Martin had gone to work, a beautiful young woman knocks at the door and I welcome her in. "Hmmmm, I bought that shirt you are wearing"...
"You mean you never bought your own utensils?"
This was worrying, this girl walks in and makes herself very comfortable, of cause I knew her, she is Mwende, his ex, the drama queen, the gold digger.
At least that is what I had been told.
I welcome her in and she says that she only came to get some of her stuff she had left behind. Because I knew where it was, I quickly get it and give it to her. As she leaves, she looks at me and says: "Martin is very sly, I bet he has already taken you to meet his parents, because he had also done the same for me, please be careful and make sure you go to the VCT before you get serious with him."
That was good advice but at a very wrong time.
When Martin came home later in the day, I told him about my encounter with Mwende and he said that that was all shit, bullshit!
I was frightened and something in me wanted to know what our fate was. So, I suggested that we should go for a test, a VCT test. He was very calm and we agreed to go to Kenyatta National Hospital.
We got to Kenyatta and we meet a very charming young man who counsels and takes us through the whole procedure...
A few minutes and the results were out, my heart sunk ... my world crumbled!
