A document doing rounds on social media has suggested that Uasin Gishu independent gubernatorial candidate Zedekiah Bundotich Buzeki signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Agikuyu community.
The five-page document whose authenticity has not been confirmed outlines how the Agikuyu community in the county will befit from supporting the billionaire businessman.
In the alleged MoU, Buzeki, should he be governor, will champion for the establishment of a Town Constituency during the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) boundaries review scheduled for 2019.
This is to cater for the cosmopolitan residents living in town and in particular the Kikuyu community.
"The town constituency (Huruma Constituency) will be hived off Turbo constituency and shall consist of Huruma, Market, West Indies and Kahoya wards," reads part of the MoU signed on May 1, 2017.
"The MoU remains in force and effect for not longer than five years," it adds.
The billionaire businessman will also be required to ensure all land belonging to the Kikuyu community sold at a throw away price during the 2007/2008 post election violence is given back and money paid refunded.
The MoU is signed by Buzeki, his running mate Samson Kipkosgey Cheruiyot, Huruma MCA Peter Chomba, identified as Spokesman, GEMA secretary general Paul Kinyanjui Mwangi and Samuel Kamunu Wa Kafari, who was installed at the Kikuyu community spokesperson before the Jubilee party nominations.
"That document is authentic, it leaked from Buzeki's side," said a source that sought anonymity.
Buzeki could not be reached for a comment over the alleged MoU but on the day the document started circulating, he accused his competitor governor Jackson Mandago for engaging in propaganda campaigns.
"Somebody tell our competitor that purposefully using propaganda and hyperbole to garner the people’s support will not work! The people of UASIN GISHU have been asking for his manifesto which has been meet by a mirage," Buzeki posted on his official Facebook page on Monday.
