Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho was among thousands of graduates from Gretsa University on Wednesday though he did not attend the function, reports the Daily Nation.
Joho gradated with a second Honours Lower Division Degree in Commerce from the institution after enrolling as in 2014 under Distance Learning Programme.
The outspoken Governor had earlier done Business Management Degree from Kampala University, a degree which has since been questioned.
In 2014, Joho had his Business Management Degree declared invalid by The Uganda National Council of Higher Education following a challenge by Mombasa businessman Suleiman Shahbal.
He has been battling claims that his Degree is fake, maintaining that he is a graduate of Kampala University.
According to the Kenyan election laws, for one to be governor, he or she must obtain an authentic academic degree from a certified university.
Could the Governor’s decision to undertake a second degree be guided by earlier doubts of his academic credentials?
Known to be vocal on social media sites, the ODM Deputy Party leader did not inform his followers on his new academic successes.
Recently, Governor Joho had a public spat with Deputy President William Ruto who had allegedly labeled him an academic dwarf.
