Former Presidential candidate and Nairobi governorship hopeful Peter Kenneth has denied claims that he attempted to bribe Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko to step down from the gubernatorial race.
“Why would I pay or bribe someone to step down… bribe itself is a crime. It is the people of Nairobi who will choose their leaders,” Kenneth said.
Speaking on Sunday during a Sunday service at the Kayole PCEA church, the former Gatanga MP urged politicians eyeing the City's top seat on a Jubilee Party ticket to engage in ideological politics, observing that the ongoing war of words between the politicians is threatening the unity of the party.
“For the sake of our Jubilee Party, we need to be seen speaking to each other rather than speaking against each other,” he said.
Kenneth further exhumed confidence of winning the City's top seat on a Jubilee Party ticket, arguing that he is best suited to unseat governor Evans Kidero.
Senator Mike Sonko, who is also eyeing the Nairobi governorship seat has since labeled Kenneth a "foreigner" and "an outsider" in Nairobi politics.
