In the build-up to the announcement of President Uhuru Kenyatta's cabinet list, women across the county mounted pressure on the president to consider them.
From the founding of Kenya, men have always taken the lion share of cabinet slots.
In the 21 names that he has already read out only six women have made it to the cabinet.
The women are Prof. Margaret Kobia for Public Service, Rachael Omamo for Defence, Monica Juma for Foreign Affairs, Sicily Kariuki for Health, Ambassador Amina Mohammed fro Education, and Farida Karoney for Lands.
This is likely not to sit well with women who wanted more slots at least nine.
FIDA, a women's organisation designed to protect the rights of women, had called on the president to follow the constitution and respect the two-thirds gender rule.
It will be interesting to see how women and FIDA, in particular, respond to the cabinet list.
