Alliance for Real Change (ARC) party Presidential hopeful Abduba Dida has asked the national government to streamline security across the country ahead of next month’s general election.
Addressing supporters during campaign rallies in Isiolo Town on Wednesday, Dida raised concerns over the state of security with only days left tot eh August 8 general election.
Dida said that instances of insecurity that have been reported in some parts of the country especially Lamu and Northern Kenya should be wake up call to the government that the country is heading to the general election and citizens need to be secured.
He said that the government has enough security resources to ensure safety of Kenyans.
“I am concerned that with only days left to the August 8 polls, the national government seems unprepared in terms of security,” he said he said as quoted by the Standard.
Dida asked acting Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang’i and security agencies to conduct 24 hour patrols in every corner of the country so as to assure citizens of their safety.
He said that Kenyans have a constitutional right to get security at all times.
Dida at the same time hit out at politicians opposing the dusk to dawn curfews in Garissa, Lamu and Tana River.
He said that the curfews should be supported in order to tame terror related attacks and crime.
Dida urged Kenyans to be calm and embrace peace before, during and after the August 8 polls.
Dida alongside other six presidential candidate is seeking to send President Uhuru Kenyatta packing on August 8.
Kenyatta is eyeing re-election on Jubilee party ticket.
