Former presidential candidate Abduba Dida has rubbished the new guidelines released by IEBC to limit spending by elective seats aspirants during the next general election.

According to Dida, IEBC was wrong to quote large amount of money to be used by candidates without asking them to provide their sources of campaign funds.

Dida who was speaking KTN News on Friday said that, failure to quote sources will lead to looting of public funds by political aspirants.

"The amounts quoted are ridiculous. IEBC should also question where candidates will get all the money from. Otherwise it is like telling them to also loot from the public," he said. 

IEBC released new election spending guidelines which seeks to curb spending by political aspirants. 

Aspirants seeking Parliamentary seats will be allowed to spend not more that Sh33 Million while those seeking Ward Representative seats will be allowed to spend Sh10 Million in campaigns.

The commission said that it seeks to provide an equal playing ground for all aspirants and curb cases of voter bribery.
