Rono fell sick at a function in Eldoret on Saturday and was rushed to hospital where he passed on while receiving treatment.

The deceased has been serving as the director of the board since early last year when he was appointed by the county county government alongside also being an official of the Association of Kenya Addiction Counsellors.

Confirming the demise, Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno hailed Rono and said that within a short period after his appointment, Rono had achieved a lot in the fight against alcoholism and drug abuse.

Prior to his demise, Rono was attending a bench-marking event with officials from Nandi County at the governor’s office in Eldoret but left briefly to address journalists who were present. However, the media brief did not happen as he began complaining of severe headache and excused himself to go and rest.

He was then rushed to hospital where he succumbed while receiving treatment.
