Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWD) in Nyamira County have threatened to demonstrate next week if the county government doesn't employ them according to the Constitution.
Speaking on Thursday in Nyamira town, the group, led by chairman Jared Wilberforce and Enock Omwando, said the county government of Nyamira has not employed people living with disability according to the Constitution.
“Here in Nyamira, 900 youths are employed to work for the county government but only six youths living with disability are employees,” said Wilberforce
“We need the county to employ us since we sent 25 names to the county government which is yet to respond to the issue. As from next week, we are going to have seven days of protests to compel the administration to give us jobs,” said Omwando.
They also accused the county government of giving them false promises whenever they meet county officials who promise to address their grievances but nothing is done afterward.
