The Uasin Gishu coordinator of the National Council for Persons with Disability has urged disabled people in the county to join groups for in order to benefit from money allocated by the county government.
Speaking after giving out cheques to groups formed by people with disability at the Eldoret Cathedral on Thursday, Yego said through joining groups, an individual makes it easier for himself to access funds.
"I have given out cheque worth oSh1.1 million to twenty two groups of people with disability in the county. Each group will get fifty thousand Kenya shillings," he said.
He added that the amount will be used by the groups to improve their livelihoods by starting income generating activities.
"I urge the groups that have benefited from the fund to use the amount well by starting projects that will improve their livelihoods and make them independent," he said.
Some of the groups that benefited from the fund include, Small Home Disability Self Help Group, Ogilgei Self Help Group, Kapsoya SHG, Jerusalem and Ngenyilel self help groups among others.
