Disabled persons in Kisii County thanked Governor James Ongwae for including them in the next financial year's budgetary allocations, where they will get Sh 30,000 each to initiate projects that will help them be self-reliant.
President for the disabled Kennedy Nyambega said that the move will see them develop economically.
“I want to thank Governor Ongwae for his humility and kind-heart to the people living with disabilities in the county. Nevertheless, the Governor should increase the allocation so that we can initiate a good number of projects to our people,” said Nyambega.
Governor James Ongwae had promised to finance people living with disabilities, in order to initiate projects that would help them be self-reliant and avoid begging.
Addressing the public at a Dialogue Conference that was held Thursday on the government's achievements in the devolved units, he said his Government would allocate Sh 150, 000, 000 for the disabled persons in the coming financial year. According to Governor, the county has more than 5,000 disabled people.
"We will give Sh 30, 000 to each disabled person in the next financial year, so that they can initiate projects that will help them be self-reliant. I will support you where necessary to improve your living standards and live like others. My government will not discriminate you in any way, therefore feel accommodated," he promised the disabled.
