The ODM party leader Raila Odinga should disband the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy since it is ‘consuming’ most of his time trying to solve ‘non-issues’, a city lawyer has said.
The coalition has been rocked with myriad of challenges with the most recent one where co-principal and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula allegedly dismissed chances of Raila winning in 2017 and instead asked him to back him for the top seat in the land.
But lawyer Fred Omanga on Tuesday said Raila’s co-principals - Wetangula and Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka - have nothing to offer to Raila's candidature other than wasting his ‘substantial time’.
“I think Raila should disband Cord and subsequently think of strengthening the ODM or even form another coalition that would see him clinch the presidency other than spending his time dealing with non-issues being created by a section of Cord leaders,” he said.
“Musyoka and Wetangula have nothing to offer yet politics is a game of numbers. The former has lost grip in his Ukambani backyard while the latter has minimal impact in western Kenya. That’s why I think Raila should strengthen his Orange party or look for stronger coalitions,” he added.
According to him, the former prime minister should try and reach out to DP William Ruto since he is the only channel for him to clinch the presidency.
“Kenyan politics is tribal and usually numbers take the day. The only person who can take him to the white house on the hill is Ruto so time has come to bury the hatchet because politics has no permanent enemy,” he added.
