A section of Nakuru residents have called for the dissolution of parliamentary committees following graft allegations.
Speaking today at Nakuru Town, the residents say that they are growing weary with bribery claims by some MPs.
John Mwangi, a loader at Wakulima Market says that it is distressing to have lawmakers mentioned in graft accusations.
“These lawmakers were elected to safeguard us against social ills but some chairpersons and MPs have been adversely mentioned in the graft allegations,” said Mwangi.
The image of the National Assembly has been tainted by the accusations.
Susan Ogallo, a tailor in Nakuru Town, called for dissolution of parliamentary committees mentioned in bribery and extortion.
“We want dissolution of those parliamentary committees mentioned in graft. Who will save us if these leaders who are vested with authority to defend us and constitution are betraying us?” posed Ogallo.
The residents urged the public prosecutor to probe those MPs implicated in the graft allegations to instil confidence in the public for the National Assembly.
“Those mentioned in the graft should be grilled and prosecuted,” added Ogallo.
The residents also called for integrity to members of various parliamentary watchdogs committees saying that they play a key role in checking shortfalls in government.
