Mwangangi was speaking thursday afternoon after touring Athi River at the border of Mwala and Yatta Constituencies in where he assessed the destruction caused by waste discharge and unregulated sand harvesting.

The water in the River has turned green but still residents use it for domestic purposes and also for their livestock.

The waste originates from upstream areas such as Nairobi, Kiambu and Kajiado. Late last year a parliamentary committee visited the area but no fruits were realised after their visits as the pollution still goes on.
