A section of Kisumu County residents have asked Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party to enhance disciplinary measures for those considered as party rebels.
Those residents have asked the newly endorsed party leadership to crack the whip on Members of Parliament who are opposing both the party leadership and ODM party political stands.
Speaking to the press on Monday at the Jomo Kenyatta Sports ground in Kisumu city, the residents alleged that ODM party risked losing a lot, the 2017 presidency being one of them, if rebel members were not dealt with early enough.
They said that cracking the whip on rebel members of the party would also go a long way in serving as an example in disciplining rebels and also bring sanity in the ODM party.
The residents were reacting to the recent pressure barring the Homa Bay senatorial by-elections which has seen Cord and ODM leader Raila Odinga coming under attack from a section of Homa Bay leaders and residents for giving the late Senator Gerald Otieno Kajwang’s younger brother Moses Kajwang’ a direct party ticket and endorsing him in Bondo during the funeral service of his late son Fidel Odinga and last week at Homa Bay.
“Let the party leadership act very fast in dealing with these rebel leaders for sanity to prevail in the party,” the residents said in a joint statement.
