Wiper leader and former Vice president Kalonzo Musyoka is having a tough time dealing with some of the party members who feel discontented over the manner in which primaries will be conducted.
As Kalonzo looks forward to being chosen as Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) flag bearer, a section of leaders from the party have expressed fear of free and fair nominations before the 2017 elections.
This comes few weeks after the party leader Kalonzo led other leaders in ruling out the involvement of the electoral body during their nominations.
One of the leaders who feels dissatisfied is Kitui Governor Julius Mulombe. According to Mulombe, Kalonzo should call upon Kitui senator David Musila to resign if at all they want to have free and fair party nominations when that time comes.
His sentiments were also supported by the Kitui Professionals coordinator Campbel Munyambu who said that the party is likely to lose potential candidates in the event that Kalonzo does not reorganize his house as soon as possible.
“Unless the party crafts better ways of conducting its primaries, popular aspirants might not get the nomination and will troop to other parties and win the positions therefore disadvantaging the party numbers in both National and County assemblies,’’ said Munyambu.
On the other side of town, Kalonzo’s political future as Cord’s flag bearer remains uncertain.
According to sources, there is nothing like endorsement in the party. The three Cord principals will be expected to battle out among themselves and the best will be given the ticket to fly the coalition’s flag during the upcoming general elections.
