Barely a week after ODM party conducted primaries in Nyamira County, Governor John Nyagarama has not had a sleep and has camped in the Orange House for three days.

In the hotly contested nominations which was reportedly marred with malpractices, Nyagarama was declared winner after garnering 17,494 votes against his closest challenger James Gesami, who scored 12, 104.

But the certificate has not been issued due to strict party regulations which demands that winners are awarded after their names have been officially handed in for gazetting by County Elections Board.

Also, his challengers, James Gesami and John Kumenda have since filed a petition which was due to be heard and determined on Friday afternoon.

Surprisingly though, Nyagarama is said to be piling pressure on ODM officials to hand him a winner’s certificate by claiming that he won on a fair and transparent ground.

The petition filed by Gesami, who also doubles as west Mugirango MP and Nyamira branch ODM chair, indicates that several polling stations did not participate in the exercise due to absence of registers.

On his part, Kumenda argues that his name was missing from the official ODM register despite having registered as a member.
