Over 200 casuals who were recently dismissed by an Athi-based company stormed the labor office in Athi River yesterday for legal redress.
The laborous said they had tried pleading with the top management of the company to allow them work till some time late this month to allow them plan for the months of January in vain.
Led by Peter Ouma, the chairman to the casuals association, the workers most of who were youths waited for almost five hours at the offices entrance before gaining access.
They told the officer who declined not to be mentioned that they were tired waiting for the employer to recall them for the job and therefore wanted help and directions from the government.
The workers who had protested few days ago with claims that the company had sent them packing until February next year without putting their interests into consideration and with no notice.
Ouma therefore said as the voice of the workers, he was demanding for compensation by the company if it insisted they could not be allowed to continue with their operations as casuals in the firm.
He said the rights of the workers had been adversely violated by the company hence need for the national government's intervation faulting the Machakos County government for failure to address their plight.
