Is Kibera headed to its first time when it will witness its political idol Raila Odinga deserted?

After the much-publicised handshake between Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta, local supporters in Nairobi have been venting out at the opposition leader and announcing their drop of support for him.

They accused Raila of colluding with the authorities to see impunity continue, citing the 'illegal' re-deportation on self-declared NRM general Miguna Miguna.

This is what residents said:

"It's meaningless to fight against impunity for the entire of your life only to join it later. Your reputation will erode very fast. If you take a wake in markets across the country, your former supporters are disappointed with you. Tell your murderer brother to let go Miguna," argued Abuga Makori.

Jacky Rosicky Agiza said: "My heart is still bleeding for the Kenyans who lost their lives... The Handshake was to unite us but its even dividing us more."

Ben Adams said: "Ile radi itatwanga Raila bado iko Dubai inaconsult Miguna Miguna."

This translates as: "The lightning that will strike Raila is still consulting Miguna Miguna in Dubai."

Joel Raps Mswahili Rapando said: "You betrayed us, baba. Why did you do that? Withdraw that handshake."

Dennis Ochenja said: "Frankly have you sold the opposition for 30 pieces of silver? Miguna would have died...and still might yet...for you. Your silence on this doesn't reflect positively on you as the alternative leadership choice for Kenya. But then, maybe you no longer are."

The drop in allegiance seems to have gone beyond Nairobi residents as supporters from other regions expressed their dissatisfaction too.

Mwero Mangale said: "We from the larger coastal region say NO to a fake handshake. We have withdrawn our political support en masse."

Raila Odinga was served as MP for Kibera residents in a period that spanned over two decades and his support in the region has always been unwavering in the past years.
