[Photo|Eddy Illah]Kisumu County Environment CeC Salmon Orimba has launched a long term intervention programme for addressing solid waste management and environmental protection which has been a great challenge experienced by the residents of Kisumu County.The 18 Skips that were launched on Monday will be distributed among the seven sub-counties to help address waste disposal within the busy trading centers, according to Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr Ochieng Owili."The initiative intends to promote conservation and protection of the environment in the city and other sub-counties and as highlighted in the governor's manifesto on agenda number two on the conservation and protection of the environment as well as opening of the lakefront of business as well as addressing public health issues related to solid waste disposal," said Owili.Also in attendance were Senator Fred Outa, Planning CeC Richard Ogendo, Physical Planning CeC Nerry Achar, Industrialization CeC Alice Moraa, Agriculture CeC Gilchrist Okuom, Health Doris Obara and Director protocol Bob Madanji.
