Deputy President William Ruto has called on Ukambani leaders to put aside their differences for the sake of development.

Ruto while launching the NYS projects at Kasieku Secondary school in Kilome, Makuei County on Wednesday said that selfish politics had hindered development.

The DP stated that it was important for leaders in the region to shun divisive politics and embrace development, further urging the leaders to support Jubilee government noting that the government has their interests.

“It’s time for leaders in this region to unite and work together for development,” he said.

The DP said that time had come for transformation which he said can be realized if there is unity.

He noted that some of the politicians in the opposition criticizing the government had failed to promote development when they were in power.

“You (locals) should not be fooled by this people (opposition) they have nothing new to offer you,” he said.

The DP was accompanied by several MPs among them Kilome’s Regina Ndambuki, Mwingi Central Joe Mutambo, Kitui West Rachel Nyamai among others.

Jubilee government has been making trips to Ukambani in what political expert’s terms as hunt for votes.

Early this month President Uhuru Kenyatta was on a three day tour of the region where he launched development projects.

Sources claim that President Uhuru Kenyatta plans to tour the region to launch more development projects.
