The Agikuyu community spokesperson in Uasin Gishu has cautioned youths in the County against being misused by politicians to cause chaos before, during and after elections.

Speaking at Mweiruti, in the outskirts of Eldoret Town, 'Mzee' Samuel wa Kabari advised the youth not to let rogue politicians use them negatively to disrupt political meetings of their rivals.

He lamented that politicians had resolved to misusing the youths instead of helping them.“It is unfortunate that we have leaders who instead of empowering our youth positively they are busy buying them alcohol so that they can get drunk and disrupt political rallies of their opportunities.

They then forget about the youths once they are elected into office,” said Kabari.

He urged the youth to follow leaders who direct them towards development and improving their livelihoods instead of those who lead them into destructive activities.

The Agikuyu community spokesperson further challenged both county and national government to formulate policies that will help empower the youths, most of who are jobless.

“Most of our youths are being misused by politicians because they are idle. The government needs to find ways of providing skills that will enable them to contribute effectively to nation building so that they are economically valuable,” Mzee Kabari noted.
