Many theories about the causes of fire incidents in schools emerged on Wednesday’s stakeholder's meeting which was organised by National Disaster management unit and other Organisations.
According to County Kuppet Chairman Okondo Osoro, the blame game will not help end torching of schools but the issues which have been raised concerning the burning of schools should be addressed.
Okondo said politicians should stop politicising education matters more so when it comes to the board of management officials.
He said that politicians might be influencing the management in schools.
“People have not understood well about the new management of the school, hence you can find that those who were not selected to the new management have an influence in the schools, we need to focus on this so that we can address the matter,” he said.
The chairman also said that some politicians might have their people whom they wanted to be on the board but they did not qualify hence there is a need for the matter to be looked upon.
He also challenged the Teachers Service Commission to have measures on how they promote teachers.
“The criteria in which the TSC are promoting teachers is not clear this can bring divisions in the teaching staff, hence I advocate for TSC to have it clear to end wrangles between the teachers,” he said.
To the parents he challenged them to be responsible for educating their children on good moral values.
“Parents we have failed to know the character traits of our children ,we need to adjust the measures on how we can educate our children,” said Okondo.
