Wiper Party MPs have accused ODM politicians of making inflammatory remarks which they say could split the coalition.
These pronouncements have been termed as irresponsible and lacking in wisdom as ODM is not the only political party in the Cord coalition.
Speaking during a breakfast prayer meeting attended by Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka in Wote town, Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr (Makueni), Wiper party organising secretary Robert Mbui, Makueni MP Daniel Maanzo and East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) legislator Peter Mathuki reacted to recent public utterances by Mombasa governor Hassan Joho who is said to have asked the Cord co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula to step down for ODM leader Raila Odinga in the presidential race.
The leaders asked ODM to exercise restraint and follow the management structure laid down by the coalition.
"These comments are bringing discord to the coalition. There is a management board mandated to ensure fairness to all parties and its members," said Mutula Jnr.
Mr Mbui said the mode of picking the Cords presidential flag bearer was a joint affair of all the affiliate parties. "These remarks by ODM leaders including Kisumu deputy governor Ruth Odinga and Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya are causing cracks in Cord," said Mbui.
Mr Mathuki echoed the Wiper legislators' words that the ODM leaders public endorsement for Raila was slowly going to bring disintegration of the coalition if not checked.
"Joho is not even a member of the Cord management board, therefore he has no mandate of endorsing a candidate in public on behalf of the coalition," he said.
Makueni MP Daniel Maanzo has accused Jubilee government of scheming to split the opposition by constantly taunting them to name their presidential flag bearer.
His remarks come only days after the FORD-Kenya leader Moses Wetangula stated that there was neither hurry nor a timeline in endorsing the Cord presidential flag bearer last weekend where his party endorsed him as the party presidential candidate.
Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana said Kalonzo Musyoka is a servant leader and deserved to be Kenya's next president.
Kalonzo, however, declined to comment on the issue of public endorsement of Raila and the calls for him to step down for the ODM leader.
"I will not comment on the calls for me to step down but you can tell the country that I am on top of things," he said.
