Speaking at a press briefing in his Athi River office on Monday, Lemalasia said it was not in order for the governor to apply excessive police force.

Lemalisia disclosed that the governor had ignored the devolved security units and powers at sub county levels and instead used the area's county commissioner and county police commandant to dictate on how the force operated.

He said that security bosses at district levels had their hands as far as decision making on how officers in their areas of jurisdiction were assigned and deployed on daily basis.

The commissioner noted that the move was a threat to security in the entire county revealing that the governor orders deployment of police officers to wherever he wanted them to be whenever he had functions in part of the county.

Lemalasia gave examples of recent occasion where police officers from other sub-counties within the county were deployed to contain situation in Athi River a day after county workers based in Mavoko Sub-county protested over their delayed wages.

He also mentioned Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama and Deputy Governor, Benard Kiala Sunday's political rally where police officers were deployed in numbers in Athi River town to keep vigilance the whole day.

The deputy commissioner questioned security of the regions where officers were deployed from neighbouring sub-counties arguing that areas where such officers are usually based could be prone to security threats whenever they are away on assignments elsewhere.

He called on governor Dr. Mutua to re-strategise on his way of handling security agents in the county to block any possible security vacuums that could be a big threat to the region's security.
