The National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) is conducting County forums, to assess the youth's inclusion and participation in governance and development agenda.
NGEC commissioner Dr Florence Wachira paid a courtesy call to the Nyeri County Commissioner Oningoi Ole Sosio, where they discussed various issues touching on the youth affairs.
Ole Sosio urged the youth to pursue self employment as a means of livelihood, saying white collar jobs were not the only way to earn a living.
Wachira also visited the area Special Programmes, Youth and Sports CeC Lucy Mugure Wanyitu who emphasised on the need for both County and National governments to work together.
She on Wednesday reiterated that the youth need to participate in matters which affect them.
She also asked them to engage their leaders fully to ensure they are accountable to them.
Wachira had earlier visited Tharaka Nithi County, where she addressed a youth forum at Chuka Igamba Ngo'mbe CDF Hall.
