Through the party's grassroots leaders, the ANC leadership insisted that Mudavadi could end up being given a raw deal should he enter into a pre-election agreement.

Speaking at the Kakamega Golf Hotel after an ANC consultative meeting, they said that in case Mr Odinga wanted a re-union with the former Deputy Prime Minister, he (Odinga) should simply support Mudavadi's quest for State House using the ANC party.

ANC's Kakamega County chairman Andrew Amukowa also added that Mudavadi was ready to go for the presidency following his previous campaigns and experience in the political field without the help of either Cord or Jubilee.

"We are aware about their plans to trick Mudavadi and leave him stranded so we ask him to ignore advances being made by Cord and Jubilee because he is a force to reckon with," said Shiluku/Mugai MCA Albert Wetundu.

Kakamega county Minority Leader Titus Kwoma said that the party should now work on  fielding a presidential candidate and candidates in the other dockets in 2017.

"We are strengthening the party so that we can fill all elective posts," he said.

Odinga's supporters had earlier on called for a political megre between Raila and Mudavadi to ensure they unseat the incumbent Jubilee government.
