Mwangi regretted that, there were incidents where some women beneficiries from the WEF loans decided to divert the lons to personal luxuries, instead of using the funds for investments to enhance their economic self-reliance and empowerment.

Speaking at the Kisii Culture hall during the distribution of  WEF loans cheues worthy sh4.2million to women groups from the County, the Commissioner challenged the beneficiries to invest the loans wisely for them to repay the loans to the revolving fund for further disbursement to other women entrepreneurs.

"There are isolated cases I have witnessed elsewhere, where women receive lons from Government kitties and decide to sit under a tree and share out the loans amongst themselves, claiming that is Government money and nobody should bother them to account for it,"Stated Mwangi.

He also warned women groups to be cautious and careful about the calibre of members they register  as group members,to avert  allowing members with questionable character who will receive the loans and go underground leaving the repayment burden to the other group members.

Mwangi encouraged women from the County to apply for the WEF loans, reminding them that the money ws ment to empower them economically,to avert overreliance on their husbands.

"These loans are interest  free and no woman should fear applying for the loans, since the Government is not charging them any interest that will make women fear that their property will be auctioned for failure to repay,"Assured Mwangi.
