National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) vice chair Ms Irene Wanyoike said that the boundary review is a long process and locals should live peacefully without any worries whatever.

Speaking in Kisumu on Wednesday, Wanyoike said NCIC is getting concerned with utterances made by politicians over Nandi Governor Stephen Sang’s call for Kisumu-Nandi border review.

“There are well laid down procedures on changing a boundary. Politicians should stop making remarks that may cause tension along the border,” she urged.

Ms Wanyoike urged members of parliament to use their powers to find lasting ways of solving disputes along the borders.

Last month,Governor Sang called on the National Land Commission (NLC) to re-adjust its common border to place Chemelil, Muhoroni, Miwani, Kibigori, Kibos, Koru and Kopere within Nandi County borders.

Governor Sang’s proposal was met with a backlash from a section of leaders in Kisumu County.

Only last week, Members of the Kisumu County Assembly (MCA’s) unanimously passed a motion seeking to compel the NLC and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to tour the region and review the boundaries in contention.
