The stern warning was given to the governor by three Western leaders namely, Emmanuel Wangwe (Navakholo), Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East) and David Were (Matungu).

The three spoke of the issue at St James Kochwa ACK in Navakholo on Sunday.

The three told Oparanya that the Luhya people were smart enough to choose their own president and did not need convincing.

"Let Oparanya understand that we love him as an individual because of his development record. He should seek votes as Oparanya and not bring us people in whom we have lost confidence and trust," said Wangwe.

The leaders pointed out that their thoughts toward Raila Odinga would only change if he addresses the Mumia Sugar Company scandal.

"For as long as he cannot stand out and condemn managers who mismanaged the company because some of them are in his party, he remains an enemy of the sugarcane farmers in Mumias,’’ said Washialia.

Raila was also faulted by Were for not naming those top bosses who brought down the company.

"When the Cord leader was confronted in Mumias to address issues at the giant sugar miller, he should have mentioned former directors accused of mismanaging the country’s largest sugar producer," he said.
