One person died Thursday night after an ambulance collided head on with a lorry along the Nakuru-Solai road.

The deceased is said to be one of the medics in the ambulance which lost control and rammed into the lorry head on.

The incident occured at Heshima area.

Witnesses said the ambulance, which was heading to Nyahururu, lost control and collided with an upcoming lorry.

"The ambulance was speeding and lost control after hitting the bump. It veered to the other lane and collided head on with an oncoming lorry," Erastus Munyua said.

The driver of the ambulance and occupants of the lorry escaped with injuries.

The ambulance had reportedly taken a patient to a Nakuru hospital and was heading back to Nyahururu.

The accident led to a gridlock along the road.

Administration Police officers from Bahati arrived and helped control traffic.
