This is after  court issued orders last week temporarily suspending the strike before an application filled by the Council of Governors (CoG) is heard.

According to Nation, the orders had been issued following an urgent application that was filed by the governors' group on grounds that the strike called by Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPPDU) as well as the Kenya National Union of Nurses (Knun) was illegal over violation of labour laws.

The Employment and Labour Court Judge Hellen Wasilwa has now directed the Kilimani Police boss to help present to court the KMPPDU and Knun officials to defend themselves against civil jail.

“No one is above the law and it is essential that court orders are obeyed for maintenance of good order and the dignity of the court,” argued CoG lawyers who returned to court after the two sides failed to go back to work.

The application will be heard on December 13.
