The Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has filed an application in Court seeking to block their possible jail.
They had an ultimatum of until Thursday 26, January, to negotiate and reach an agreement with the government over their nationwide strike, which kicked off December 5, 2016.
KMPDU secretary general Dr Ouma Oluga indicated they required additional time to meet, talk, and strike a deal with the government.
The doctors also want the Court to restrict the Council of Governors (CoG) and health cabinet Secretary Dr Cleopa Mailu, from frustrating negotiations.
They are demanding for a 300 per cent salary increment, as agreed in a 2013 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Mailu however accused them of not being interested in ending the strike.
According to the CS, the Union leaders have been turning down all deals, proposed by the government.
