Accident victims turned away at the Iten County Referral Hospital as doctors’ strike continues
Two road accident victims were on Wednesday turned away at Iten Hospital following the on-going doctors’ strike.
The accident occurred at the Elgeyo Marakwet-Uasin Gishu counties border on Tuesday evening when a matatu van hit a private car.
Other patients were also asked to seek medical services at the Kapsowar mission facility, 50 km away.
Francis Cheruiyot, a resident, also said that two prematurely delivered babies had to be moved in incubators as no nurses were on call to attend to them.
Medical practitioners in Elgeyo-Marakwet have vowed to continue with the nationwide strike amidst calls by the public to call it off.
