Stemming from their meeting at statehouse Mombasa on Wednesday, the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) secretary-general Ouma Oluga said they will communicate their decision today.

“The verdict will be known today (Friday) after the meetings,” said Dr Oluga on Thursday, who spoke on phone without disclosing much details.

President Kenyatta had convened a meeting on Wednesday to find a solution to a strike that has lasted well over a month, tabling the government’s offer for the doctors to resume work.

The offer contained a monthly salary of Sh196,989 for the least-paid doctor, up from the current Sh140,244.

The new offer will also see the doctors receive a flat risk allowance of Sh10,000, with an emergency call allowance of Sh30,000.
