Mr Dolal said that he is confident Garissa voters will elect him warning his rivals who are eying the Garissa Township seat come the next polls to prepare for a resounding defeat.

The aspirant exuded confidence that he has enough support in the area, which is currently represented by Majority Leader Aden Duale.

“It is an open secret that I am the strongest candidate to beat incumbent Aden Duale. I lost the race in a suspicious manner in 2013. I will win the seat, regardless of which party’s ticket I run on,” he said.

Mr Dolal was reacting to former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim’s statement when he said he is not worried by ODM’s move to field a candidate to run against him.

Cord leader Raila Odinga had endorsed Mr Dolal to run for Garissa Township MP which dealt a blow to Wiper Deputy Party leader Farah Maalim’s bid for the post.

Maalim moved from ODM to Wiper last month in a move viewed as targeting the Kamba voters in Garissa Township.

“Politics is a game of numbers and my sub-clan are the majority in Garissa Township. ODM is the party to beat in Garissa Township because it enjoys massive support. Out of the four MCAs, three were elected on the ODM ticket in 2013,” Mr Dolal said.
