Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Garissa Township MP hopeful Nassir Dolal has said that he is the right man to dethrone National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale during the forthcoming general polls.
Dolal downplayed allegations by National Assembly Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim that Cord leader Raila Amolo Odinga’s endorsement means nothing in the race to unseat Duale when that time comes.
The aspirant claimed that he is the strongest opponent of Duale adding that he will smoke him out of office under any political party come August.
“It is an open secret that I am the strongest candidate to beat [incumbent Aden] Duale. I lost the race in a suspicious manner in 2013. I will win the seat, regardless of which party’s ticket I run on,” he said as quoted by Star.
Earlier on, Maalim had come out alleging that Raila’s support towards Dolal has not given him sleepless nights as he seeks to clinch the seat.
Dolal argues that he has the numbers to enable him trounce both Maalim and Duale adding that Garissa is an ODM stronghold “Politics is a game of numbers and my sub-clan are the majority in Garissa Township,” Dolal said.
He added: “ODM is the party to beat in Garissa Township because it enjoys massive support. Out of the four MCAs, three were elected on the ODM ticket in 2013.”
