The United States government has congratulated president Uhuru Kenyatta for being re-elected.
President Donald Trump’s government has however expressed concern following the violence that was witnessed in some parts of the country after Uhuru was declared the president elect.
The National Super Alliance (Nasas) principal Raila Odinga has maintained he will not concede defeat saying Uhuru stole his victory. He also noted he will not go to court to contest the results.
In a statement on Tuesday, the White House has advised all those who are aggrieved with the poll outcome to seek legal redress.
“We are troubled by reports that some demonstrations have turned violent, and call on all Kenyans to reject violence and resolve disputes in accordance with the Kenyan Constitution and the rule of law.”
The former prime minister is expected to announce his next move today.
