Nyaribari Chache politician, Rachael Otundo, has urged development partners and donors to consider funding women aspirants during election campaigns.

Otundo observed that most women are not able to carry out their campaign due to financial challenges.

“Besides sensitizing women on their rights, donors need to support women with funds to carry out their campaign,” said Otundo.

 Speaking to this writer in her office at Gusii Mwalimu House, Kisii town, Otundo who unsuccessfully contested for Nyaribari Chache Parliamentary seat in the 2013 by-elections said that women are able to lead well if given a chance.

She lamented that most people in Gusii community do not support women leadership.

"Women from Gusii community can be great leaders though the community is yet to embrace women leadership,” notes Otundo.

She said that women just need moral and financial support and they will do great things.

The fiery and brave politician, challenged women from the community to rally behind their fellow women candidature.

“Do not elect leaders because of the handouts. Elect development oriented leaders,” urged Otundo.

She said that most women are great leaders but they fail to contest due to financial challenges.
