The Gusii community has been challenged to stop abandoning all cultures which were so important to the community.
According to Kisii county director of culture, Obino Nyambane culture is always good so long as the community does not manipulate it.
Obino who was speaking to us on Saturday at Kisii town said that the community needs to embrace their culture as one way of avoiding some funny happenings.
In addition, he said that there are some cultures that have been outdated but not all that should be abandoned.
“There are some cultures which have been outdated and as a community we need to do away with them but there are some which we can't forgo since they play a big role in our community,” said Nyambane.
For instance, he said that the culture of FGM has been outdated hence the community should quit from the practice.
“In the case of FGM as a community we need do away from it since we have known its effects to our girls but there are some cultures that we need to maintain,” added Nyambane.
Nyambane said that cultural food should not be abandoned and even the mode of dressing too.
