President Uhuru Kenyatta has called for peace and unity ahead of the August polls.
He called on leaders to ensure that no life is lost in campaigns as well as the general elections. He was speaking during the annual National Prayer Breakfast in Nairobi.
"We must never take the gift of peace for granted because there are some that have not enjoyed it. We need to exercise our democratic right and also preach peace," he said.
The president called on Kenyans to be grateful for achievements and milestones made by the Jubilee government and resolve to reelect him in the polls.
"Let us consider the strong principles that govern unity. Our diversity is part of God's plan and there is nothing, absolutely nothing, wrong with our diversity," he said.
"We must preach peace and unity because Kenya will be here long, long after we are gone. The achievements we have made are not by us but by the grace of God," he added.
