Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has cautioned youth against engaging in violence as the country gears up to the August 8 general election.Speaking to journalists in Mombasa on Tuesday, Joho asked youth to keep off politicians who might lure them to violence.Joho observed that some politicians take advantage of the electioneering period to lure young people to violence.“Young people must keep off violence and commit to peace as we head to the August general election,” he said.Joho asked youth to champion for peaceful polls, adding that young people have a key role to play in ensuring peaceful election.The Mombasa governor appealed to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to crack the whip on politicians who spew inflammatory remarks in campaigns.Joho said the National Super Alliance (NASA) is committed to ensuring peaceful August 8 polls.He assured residents that the coalition will conduct peaceful campaigns in readiness for the polls.“As NASA, part of our key agenda is to conduct peaceful campaigns ahead of the August 8 polls,” he added.
