Kiambu Woman Representative hopeful Gladys Chania has cautioned locals against accepting handouts from politicians.

Chania claims that some politicians are dishing out handouts in efforts to woo for votes ahead of party nominations and subsequent August 8 general election.Addressing locals at Githunguri town on Tuesday, Chania said that it is illegal for politicians seeking elective office to dish out handouts or bribe voters.She said that aspirants who dish out money to buy votes are not serious and must never be elected.“Don’t be swayed by selfish politicians who are out to buy your votes,” she said.Chania urged locals to elect leaders basing on their ability to lead and push for development.“Money should not be a factor when it comes to elections, people must be elected on their ability to provide good leadership,” she added.Chania urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to lock out aspirants who are allegedly engaging in election malpractices.The anti-drug crusader promised to eradicate drug abuse and push for women empowerment if elected in the August polls.Chania and Gathoni Wa Muchomba are seeking to unseat incumbent Annah Nyokabi who they accuse of failing to empower women, youths and persons living with disabilities despite having access to the Social Affirmative Action Fund.
