Maendeleo Chap Chap (CCM) party leader Dr Alfred Mutua has asked Kenyans to choose leaders who have a good track record.

He noted that poor leadership is the reason Kenya is rated amongst the poor nations in the world.

"We are the fools who elect bad leaders every five years and expect change. Let the leaders show their scorecards before you give them another contract," Mutua said.

Speaking Saturday, Mutua blamed the voters for electing politicians who were corrupt, with no vision for the country.

"Kenya is a rich country with too much politics. But the problem is not the leaders. It is us who keep on making the same mistake," he said.

"We only need development-oriented leaders in MCC. We cannot embrace corrupt leaders who will continue fooling us and end up finishing our country," he added.

The Machakos county governor further urged aspirants to desist from petty politics adding such politics could not move the country forward.

"Petty politics cannot develop our country. Our youth need employment, education and better services. We cannot achieve these through politics of self-interest," Mutua said.

Mutua was speaking in Busia county when he met delegates to popularise his party.
