Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has urged residents not to be swayed by politicians who are only interested in satisfying their personal interests.
Addressing Kabete residents on Monday after issuing out bursary funds to needy students, Kabogo told locals to be wary of leaders he said are only interested in controlling resources at the expense of leadership.
The Kiambu governor said that some politicians were eyeing to get certain leadership positions for them to control and benefit from government resources.
Kabogo said that leadership is not about gaining from public resources but serving the people. He appealed to residents to support his government on development.
He said that he will not engage in early campaigns adding that he is focusing on completing the projects his government has started across the county.
“I am not interested in early campaigns as some leaders are already doing and my aim is to complete all the development projects the government has started,” said the Kiambu governor.
The governor at the same time urged residents to remain peaceful as the country approaches the 2017 general election.
He said that his government will support programmes aimed at fostering unity among locals before, during and after the 2017 general elections.
