Speaking at the paradise junction in Eldoret town, Wednesday, Mandago said the police should focus on ensuring law and order during the party primaries and nothing more.

He said over 1,000 police had been deployed across the county.

"I want to believe they are here to provide security to the people because if they came to help in rigging we won't allow that to happen," said Mandago.

The governor further reiterated claims of plans by operatives in the office of the Deputy President trying to influence the nominations results.

"We respect the President and his Deputy but we want to tell individuals working in their offices that they have no right to sit and start deciding whom they want to be leaders as that is the mandate of the electorate," noted Mandago.

There has been fears that powerful individuals in the office of the Deputy President have a list of preferred candidates especially in the North Rift whom they were planing to help win the nominations.

Among those claimed to be being fronted by the operatives include Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant Kiprop Bundotich alias Buzeki, Jackson Kiptanui eyeing the Elgeyo Marakwet governor seat and Kapseret MP aspirant Stephen Kewa.
