Ruto had come under scathing attacks from Nyamira Majority Whip Peter Maroro and Deputy Majority Leader James Matinga over the IEBC stalemate.

But Gesima MCA Ken Atuti who also doubles up as County assembly Deputy Minority Leader has defended his boss saying the attacks directed at Ruto are uncalled for and unwarranted saying the DP has been a reformist throughout his life.

“I think sometimes we are unfair to label DP Ruto a stumbling block to the IEBC crisis. The attacks targeting him are unwarranted and uncalled for because he is a law abiding citizen,” Atuti told this reporter on Friday.

“I don’t think it’s wrong to defend the law and when the DP tells the Opposition to use Parliament to solve the stalemate, he is within the confines of the law and I believe that doesn’t make him a barrier to finding a solution to the crisis,” he added.

Atuti challenged Cord to use Parliament to resolve the standoff as provided for in the law as a way of respecting existing constitutional institutions.

“The law is clear and let’s not blames DP for siding with it. The opposition must realise that time has come to respect various constitutional provisions for the sake of protecting the integrity of our country,” he said.
